ana helder - octubre mix

ana helder is one of the cómeme acquaintances matias aguayo mentioned when i interviewed him, and i would have posted something sooner if i had had something to download (i think this mix was stream-only the last time i listened to it). the first thing dance music needs is mixes that sound like they're made by girls who look like they spend a lot of time bouncing around their houses to an infinite collection of itunes playlists, each named party jams and followed by a number, hours of classics complemented by homemades. which isn't to say the mixing is bad; it's just the exact opposite of retentive, and probably the best window into the serene + loose-limbed perma-tipsy suburban bedrooms of rosario, argentina.

also worth checking is "acida purpurea", which is up there with mmm's timeless "donna" in the weirdo/bleep jack track category.

the golden palominos - "gun/little suicides (brown stain walls, red jelly corners, remix by terre thaemlitz)"

bonus thaemlitz: the other highlight from the resident advisor mix. in late july i was up all night on pills and then, half-dreaming and shirtless in bed, watched a simultaneously mellow (somehow) and unsettling documentary about harold keke, the solomon islands warlord, on youtube as the sun rose, and then wandered around for awhile in tranquil empty dawn streets. this is a more-than-acceptable soundtrack to my memory; serious but contentable delirium. "we should be fine."

dj lucky - "sucessful tsanthem"

this is one of my favorite footwork hits; it is otherworldly and has my favorite juke trick which is the hyperspeed vocal loop exemplified around 1:24. i'm watching the moon rise through heavy clouds with it on right now and it's creepy and perfect.

howard thomas - "untitled"

probably one of the bleakest things ever released on sound signature; grim clattering minimal structures, house for the post-apocalypse. in all its hopefulness the vocal still sounds harsh and mechanical, a dying plea echoing across snowy industrial yards.

also there are crazy new actress tracks up here:
http://www.myspace.com/nonplusrecords
and he is playing mutek apparently; i'm overjoyed.

furthermore, the-dream wrote this: "The Last Album is Going to MIX Today i shall be hated no more! Haters Start your Engine! LK MAY 2010"
i don't know who is hating on terius nash (nor do i want to know these people) but...good news.
